This paper was completed by Northrop Grumman under a NASA contract and has some very useful advice for design and sizing of composite laminates. This is another of the series of papers released by the FAA and NASA in the mid/later 1990’s and represent the state of the art at that time. The latest advice may differ from the information presented here but there is some very useful information with regard to the basic parameters under the control of the designer and how they affect the basic strength of the laminate.
